Mr. Hunt has a long career in pharmacy administration and education, and is noted for his role in the adoption of key advancements in pharmacy practice and active service to the profession. As a pharmacy director, Mr. Hunt championed innovation and was instrumental in the employment of decentralized pharmacy services, the modernization of drug distribution systems, adoption of information technology, implementation of quality improvement systems, and development of clinical pharmacy services.
Mr. Hunt is the 2017 recipient of ASHP’s Harvey A.K. Whitney Award, recognizing individuals who have made outstanding contributions to health-system pharmacy. Mr. Hunt earned his B.S. and M.S. in pharmacy from The Ohio State University College of Pharmacy and completed a residency in hospital pharmacy at Grant Hospital in Columbus. He also holds an M.B.A. from the Lake Forest Graduate School of Management.

About Max L. (Mick) Hunt Jr. R.Ph., M.S., M.B.A., FASHP:
Mr. Hunt held key leadership positions within pharmacy, including Director of Pharmacy at Lutheran General-Advocate Hospital, Director of Pharmacy and Assistant Dean at the University of Kentucky, Vice President of Pharmacy at Novation (now Vizient) and Northeast Ohio Medical University as Associate Professor and Vice Chair of Pharmacy Administration in the Department of Pharmacy Practice. A longtime member of ASHP, Hunt has served on several councils and committees and as a Kentucky representative to the ASHP House of Delegates, as a member of the ASHP Board of Directors and as ASHP President. Hunt has also served as Chair of the ASHP Research and Education Foundation Board of Directors and in leadership roles with ASHP state affiliates in Minnesota, Illinois, Kentucky, and Texas. He is the recipient of several awards, including the Harvey A.K. Whitney Award, the Illinois and Kentucky Hospital Pharmacist of the Year awards, the Clinton J. Latiolais Award, and The Ohio State University College of Pharmacy Distinguished Alumni Award. He is a Fellow of ASHP and an honorary member of the Texas Society of Health-System Pharmacists.
